Okay, so here’s the tea: my boyfriend and I are in a serious Friday Night funk. It’s like clockwork, at 6pm on the dot, we shut our laptops and get out of our daytime pajamas (yeah, I said it) and into our “fancy” outfits. I’m talking a tank top and pleather leggings with some gold hoops, and he goes for the classic clean t-shirt look.
After we’ve freshened up, we rendezvous in the kitchen for Happy Hour (typically a beer for him and an Aperol Spritz for me), then sit side by side on the couch, and start playing a round of Monopoly Deal (for those that don’t know, Deal is a quick, 15-minute card-game version of Monopoly). The Friday Night rules are simple and finite: the winner of Deal picks THE MOVIE, and the loser picks THE TAKEOUT.
Usually. This past Friday, after I was crowned the 5th time champion of Deal, protocol was forgotten, and my boyfriend and I fell into a heated argument over what movie to watch and where to order the best fish tacos in Brooklyn. And then it hit us both like the proverbial wrecking ball – our relationship was turning into a never-ending Taco Tuesday at home! We stopped mid-bicker and agreed it was time to put in a little effort and spice things up, you know? Hello Fantasy Date Night!

As soon as we came up with the idea, my mind was swirling with ideas for Pear Champagne Cocktails, Black and White cookies, Vintage Movie Posters, Candy Cigarettes, Handwritten Love Notes, a home-made cheeky version of Truth or Dare (with deadly consequences! AKA dish duty) …
But, of course, the first step was to figure out what to wear. In search of the perfect, sultry glam look, I immediately visited one of my favorite retro movies to find inspiration for my femme fatale outfit: ‘Grease’.
One of my absolute favorite scenes in the movie Grease is when Sandy struts in wearing a leather jacket, a top with bare shoulders, black spandex pants… It’s like someone hit the “sexy” button on a remote control. I don’t know about you, but I could use one of those “sexy” buttons in my life!
Mama always said, “If you want to find something, you gotta go straight to the source.” So instead of braving the mall and dealing with the trauma of changing room lighting, I did what any smart shopper would do and went straight to my fave online lingerie store, Honey Birdette.
