Air by NOOSH – The New Intimates Brand You’ll Want to Live In!

Let’s be honest: most of us have a complicated relationship with what’s going on under our clothes. Chafing, digging, rolling, sweating — the struggle is very real. But Gal Golander, founder and designer of AIR by NOOSH, is here to change all that, one silky-soft, second-skin layer at a time.

Barely there and nearly naked! AIR by NOOSH

Launched as the cool, comfort-obsessed little sister to NOOSH, AIR is Gal’s answer to the question: what if your intimates actually worked for you? Think laser-cut edges, breathable fabric, and bike shorts that somehow feel like wearing…nothing. And yet, they do everything — smoothing, staying put, and saving your thighs from summer’s worst behavior.

We caught up with Gal to talk about bodywear, quiet confidence, and why she’s betting big on subtle magic you can’t see — but definitely feel.

NOOSH founder, Gal Golander…
…and her family!

What is your life philosophy?
Stay curious, work hard & never be afraid of asking for help. Grit is more important than smarts, and consistency is more important than sparks. Everything happens as it’s supposed to — trust the process.

Who are your style icons?
Zendaya for her fearless versatility, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy for timeless elegance, and Rihanna for always rewriting the rules.

What fashion trend do you secretly love?
Sneakers with everything — there’s something effortlessly chic (and comfy) about them.

What is one thing you would never wear?
Probably low-rise jeans — I survived them once, no need to go back!

Gal: I think I was more or less the same person I am today—just with less experience and a lot more naivety. I had just graduated college and was working my first real job at a successful DTC company. I was energized, passionate, and ready to take on the world, with big dreams of one day building something of my own.

Gal: Like many of our products, this one was inspired by our community. A customer once told us she never wore dresses in the summer—until she discovered NOOSH tights. They were so comfortable, she started wearing them in warmer months to prevent chafing. That was a lightbulb moment: in winter, tights offer warmth, but in summer, there’s no ideal layer for heat and friction.

When we looked at existing solutions, we noticed a pattern—some helped with chafing, but came with trade-offs like visible lines, itchy seams, or overheating. Many customers even told us they avoided summer dresses altogether. As a mom, I’ve felt that too—between wind, biking, and bending over, dresses didn’t feel practical or comfortable.

There just wasn’t a product that was feather-light, invisible under clothes, and truly wearable all day—even in the heat. So, we made one.

AIR is our answer: ultra-light, cooling, seamless, and laser-cut for a completely edgeless finish. No digging, no slipping, no visible lines—just smooth, second-skin comfort in our full range of nude tones. It’s everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

AIR by NOOSH. Because Nude isn’t just one color!

Can you tell us about the fabric technology behind AIR? What makes it breathable, seamless, and stay in place?

Gal: The magic of AIR is all in the fabric—it’s ultra-light and super-strong high-performance warp knit premium blend of silky-soft polyamide and elastane.

It lies totally flat against your skin (no hems, no lines, no digging). The seamless design means no itchy seams or bulky waistbands, and the whole thing moves with you like a second skin. It stays put, feels cool, and disappears under clothes—which is exactly what you want when it’s 90 degrees and you just want to wear the dress.

It’s the kind of thoughtful textile innovation you may not see—but you’ll feel it from the very first wear.

What were some of the biggest technical challenges in creating a product that’s both ultra-thin and durable?

Gal: Balancing ultra-thinness, and seamless construction (bonded instead of sewn) with durability was definitely one of the toughest parts of creating AIR.

First, finding the right fabric blend was a huge challenge. We needed something lightweight and thin enough to feel invisible, but strong enough with a good enough stretch & recovery to stay put on the body and hold up to everyday wear and movement without losing shape or integrity. That meant lots of testing different microfiber combinations and knit structures before landing on the perfect balance.

Second, the seamless construction was tricky. Traditional seams add strength but create bulk and irritation. We had to develop specialized bonding techniques that can withstand life and the washing machine without separating.

It took time and iteration, but the result is a product that feels light as air yet stands up to everything you put it through.

Tell us about the materials and technology behind the AIR Anti Chafing Bike Shorts.

Gal: The AIR Anti-Chafing Bike Shorts are crafted with a premium blend of silky-soft polyamide and elastane. This combo gives the shorts their signature lightweight feel, incredible stretch, and durability—so they move seamlessly with your body without losing shape.
Altogether, the materials and tech combine for an ultra-thin, breathable, and comfortable short that’s designed to keep you chafe-free and confident, no matter what your day looks like.

What makes them truly different from what’s already out there?

Gal: What really sets AIR apart is the seamless construction and laser-cut edges—using advanced bonding technology instead of traditional stitching. This means no bulky seams to irritate your skin or show through your clothes, giving you that smooth, invisible finish.

Tell us the hardest part of developing AIR by NOOSH!

Gal: One of the trickiest challenges in creating AIR was making something this feather-light that could actually survive life! The fabric, of course – a buttery-soft knit that stretches, snaps back, and holds its shape without ever digging in. But the real magic? No seams. Instead of stitching, AIR is bonded together using heat and adhesive—so it’s smooth, strong, and won’t fall apart after a few washes (or a few hundred). Think high-tech construction meets barely-there comfort.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I wore them on a 90-degree day running errands and totally forgot I had them on!” — NOOSH customer

Sometimes the best design is the kind you don’t even notice.

… laser-cut edges and a seamless, second-skin fit. How did you develop these features?

AIR by NOOSH – barely there…
…and chafe free!

Gal: Great question! We knew from the start that if AIR was going to be truly comfortable and invisible, we’d need to rethink how these kinds of garments are made.

For the edges, we worked with a special kind of warp knit fabric that doesn’t fray—so we could laser-cut it clean, no bulky seams or hems needed. That’s what gives AIR its smooth, “where-did-it-go?” finish under clothes.

The seamless construction was a whole other journey. Instead of traditional stitching, we played around with bonding—using heat and adhesives to create joins that are soft, stretchy, and totally flexible. It took a lot of trial and error, but we finally landed on something that feels like it moves with you, not against you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “These are the first anti-chafing shorts I’ve worn that actually disappear under dresses—and stay put all day. Total game-changer!” — NOOSH customer

How do you test the product’s performance—like breathability, anti-chafing, or staying power?

Gal: We didn’t just test AIR by NOOSH in the lab—we make sure it holds up in the chaos of everyday routines. Beyond airflow tests for breathability, we fit it on hundreds of women to fine-tune the cut for all shapes and sizes. Then comes the real-world wear: city walks, stair climbs, long commutes, and laundry cycles. We even created motion simulations (yes, including dancing) to make sure it stays put—no rolling, no riding up. If it’s not cool, comfy, and practically invisible under clothes, it’s back to the drawing board.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I forgot I was even wearing them—they didn’t move all day, and I walked like 8 miles!” — NOOSH

What was your approach to creating an inclusive shade range?

Gal: From the start, creating an inclusive shade range for AIR by NOOSH was a priority—because “nude” isn’t one color, and every woman deserves to feel comfortable in her own skin. We first developed our signature skin-tone range for Sheer Tights, going far beyond light, medium, and dark by researching undertones, testing with a diverse group of women, and fine-tuning each shade to look seamless in real life (not just studio lighting). That same careful process carried over to AIR, where the goal was a true second-skin match—flattering, invisible, and wearable across all skin tones. Inclusivity isn’t a trend for us—it’s a design principle.

NUDE IS NOT ONE COLOR

All of it—every edge, curve, and shade—was designed to feel as effortless as possible. Like a second skin you never have to think about.

How long did it take to go from idea to finished product? Were there any surprising pivots along the way?

Gal: Bringing AIR by NOOSH to life took about 18 months—and a whole lot of trial, error, and aha moments. We quickly learned that making the shorts thinner wasn’t enough; to fix rolling waistbands and visible lines, we had to rethink everything from fabric to construction. That meant using warp-knit fabric for a clean, hem-free edge (hello, laser cutting!), and testing tons of bonding adhesives to find one that moves with your body but holds up to daily wear and washing. Every hurdle made the product better—and by the time we launched, AIR wasn’t just another pair of shorts, but a solution built from the ground up with real women in mind.

Are there more products or innovations on the horizon that you’re excited to share?

Gal: Absolutely! NIPS — our invisible, edgeless nipple covers — are coming soon, and we can’t wait to introduce this seamless solution for bra-free dressing. They’ll be available in two styles: Conceal and Lift, designed to give you options for dressing this summer without compromising on comfort or invisibility.

We’re also gearing up to launch a fresh lineup of exciting new styles in our tights category this Fall—and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!
